However, experts recommend trying “pink noise” instead.

Many vacationers use headphones to play white noise, such as TV noise or the hum of a vacuum cleaner, to help them sleep on board.
According to MattressNextDay CEO and sleep expert Martin Seeley, white noise can significantly improve sleep for people who have trouble nodding due to high levels of environmental noise.
But many people looking to take a quick nap in the air find white noise too stimulating.
The high-pitched hum put many off – instead, they started using pink noise on planes to get their sleep.
Sleep Checklist sleep expert Max Stevens explained that sounds like waves and strong winds are classified as pink noise.
Max said listening to these noises is a commonly used sleeping technique, even while flying.
“Research on pink noise is small, but shows promising results.”
“If listening to white noise on an airplane doesn’t work, try pink noise because it helps you calm down faster and sleep throughout the flight.”
Several TikTok users have praised the soothing sounds of the ocean.
One wrote: [pink noise] Knocked out in 5 minutes. ”
One posted a video with the caption, “I slept to pink noise for the first time before bed.
“I usually wake up feeling very tired, but today I woke up full of energy.”
In addition to pink noise, Max Stevens also recommended avoiding in-flight entertainment.
He explained that digital screens emit a blue light that suppresses melatonin, making it difficult to nod.
he said: “To avoid blue light problems in mobile phones and other devices, you can buy blue light filtering glasses online that block some of the blue light so you can nod faster.”
Another way to improve your in-flight sleep is to use an eye mask on your next flight.
Masks aren’t the only things travel professionals rely on to sleep on planes. Some flight attendants swear by this affordable item for a good snooze.
