My producer said 30 years ago: you’re gonna have you need to calm them down. I need to relax a little. it’s okay, it’s okay
Dave Perry
Hey, it’s Dave Perry. Welcome to Take 5 With Dave. I have five with Marty Melcher. Marty and I have worked together for many years. You were in SSB. You were in Serta. You have been in SSB for a long time. Now you are in Legends furniture. Tell us about Legends furniture.
Marty Melcher
Legends Furniture is a very good and respected line of case merchandise that almost everyone in the industry knows about. is doing bedding business. So I’m here to be part of this and they’re a great group of people. They’re actually nice people and fun to do business with.
Dave Perry
Wouldn’t it be nice if we could have that combination?
Marty Melcher
Oh my God yes.
Dave Perry
You don’t always get it. But as they say, business is business.
Marty Melcher
But Dave, I’ve been lucky in my career, worked with some really nice and knowledgeable people, and learned a lot from every tour of duty I’ve had. I feel like I’ve come
Dave Perry
Yes, please tell me about Remedy Sleep. That’s your line and you’re working on it now. What is Remedy Sleep?
Marty Melcher
Remedy Sleep is a very simple program. This is clearly a wordplay. Because we feel that with a simple bedding line, we can offer a remedy to a large portion of the American consumer. A very simple program. Good, better – the best, very affordable. But it doesn’t track units. We weren’t chasing to the bottom. We offer solid, high quality products and have several marquee accounts.
Marty Melcher
We have a proven method for building products. And what makes our products unique is something that makes people frown. Not only does it have a great showroom feel and look, but it also has the allure of sleeping at home.
Dave Perry
i like that
Marty Melcher
That bed never came back.
Dave Perry
yeah, where’s the production?
Marty Melcher
from Phoenix. Everything is domestic, and the supply chain is also domestic. We have a few things to bring with us, and while we own and manage them overseas, all of the primary drivers of our business are outside of Phoenix.
Dave Perry
Now, I would like to end with a pleasant note. I am a big reader and I know you are too. What was the last good book you read?
Marty Melcher
Oh, I’m glad you asked. “Barking at the Wrong Tree” by Eric Barker. And it really
Dave Perry
Did Barker write about barking?
Marty Melcher
Understood. It’s a fun read, but it’s actually a very serious problem. Because it challenges many of today’s paradigms about how we organize our lives. And while he values work-life balance, he believes American society misunderstands what true work-life balance is. And he challenges the use of case studies, how the Mafia is organized and structured, and he uses ours.
Dave Perry
And they are bad, right?
Marty Melcher
they are bad But he.
Dave Perry
How are they doing? How are they doing?
Marty Melcher
Loyal within the organization, hierarchical and funny. And he talks about pirates. They were an organized group. And it’s a very interesting read. But that has changed. I thought he was a very organized person, and he let me change my ways. We are going to die on our to-do list.
Marty Melcher
i’ll leave it to you To-do lists are evil. Schedule is more important.
Dave Perry
Well, thanks for helping me not ring the wrong tree. I’m glad to meet you. it’s an honour to meet you. Congratulations. thank you. great scene. thank you.
