In 2022, Selena Gomez will debut her mental health platform, Wondermind. On the website, you’ll find all sorts of articles on the topic, from self-care strategies to journaling prompts to tips on how to calm your anxiety, the latest being shared by Gomez on his January 25th. It’s the “mood meter” I shared on my Instagram story. In short, this is his mood chart with 100 different adjective choices, representing his current mood, energy, and comfort. So at one end of the spectrum, you might feel furious; on the contrary, you may feel infatuated; if you are in between, you may feel shocked.

In an Instagram post, she wrote, “If some days feel like you’re on an emotional roller coaster, you’re not alone! No matter how you feel right now, it’s not permanent. This mood meter will help you regulate your mood throughout the day (hello, Emotional Awareness!).This post also mentions the ability to feel multiple emotions at once, and recommends checking yourself often to see how your mood has changed. It’s a thing — it was created by Mark Brackett, professor and director of Yale University’s Center for Emotional Intelligence.

Similarly, research shows that many people use mood tracking apps to see what mood patterns emerge, help them better manage their emotions, and make more informed decisions. have been shown to increase emotional well-being. Some therapists also recommend that their clients track their moods. In this way, they can better understand the person’s mental health and state of mind, and can develop appropriate treatment plans and coping mechanisms. After all, there are many factors that affect a person’s mood, from stress levels to sleep to diet and more.

But if you’re not ready to start tracking your moods, in the meantime you can “filter by mood” on the Wondermind site. Every page has a little icon that says “Filter by Emotion” — Happy, Sad, Anger, Anxiety, Stuck, Envy, Lonely. Click on it and you’ll see an article about what you’re feeling right now. It’s a great way to navigate the site and find out what parts are most relevant to you and what you’re experiencing in the moment.

Speaking of Wondermind, one of its goals is to help people improve their mental fitness. Gomez created with her mother, celebrity producer Mandy Teefey, and her Daniella Pierson, founder and CEO of The Newsette. In November 2021, Pierson told her TZR that she wanted it to be a “mental fitness ecosystem” and a place where people felt safe to participate. Gomez, for example, has been transparent for years about her depression and anxiety, a topic also covered in her documentary. Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me.

So the next time you feel alone in your emotions and thoughts, don’t. “Filter by Feels” shows that you are never alone. And you can try to figure out by checking your mood meter why You feel the way you do and what might have triggered that feeling. Hopefully, you’ll soon find yourself feeling more positive adjectives in your mood meter than negative adjectives.

Disclosure: Bustle Digital Group is an investor in Wondermind.
