BCCI last week named the Indian team for two test matches in the upcoming whiteball series and four-match series against Australia. Jadeja has not played a cricket match since the Asian Cup T20I match against Hong Kong on 31 August, and his previous first-class match was the rescheduled match against England at Edgbaston last July. It was a one-off test.
The star all-rounder missed last year’s T20 World Cup. In this competition, India suffered an embarrassing defeat to England in the semi-finals, trailing him by ten wickets.
He will reportedly play Saurashtra’s final group stage match at the Ranji Trophy.
“It’s good for him to play for Saurashtra. Perhaps he will, but I don’t know any further details,” Saurashtra Cricket Association president Jaydev Shah told PTI.
Jadeja reportedly took up bowling and batting earlier this week to finish his rehab with the NCA. The left-handed batsman is seen as an important cog in the Indian lineup, especially since his 5th or 6th place in the middle is without Rishab his pants.
