SACCO–Ralph. The New York Institute of Neurology mourns the passing of Ralph Sacco, MD, MS. Dr. Sacco joined the faculty in 1989 after completing residency training in neurology and his postdoc training in stroke and neuroepidemiology at Columbia University. As founder of the Northern Manhattan Study, he has honed his expertise in stroke care and research aimed at addressing stroke disparities in multi-ethnic communities. He remained a close collaborator and friend even after he became the Olemberg Family Chair in 2007 at the University of Miami’s Miller College of Medicine with neurological disorders. His professional acumen, combined with his compassion, dedication, and humility, has inspired countless medical professionals and earned him president of both the American Neurological Association and the American Heart Association. With his big smile and constant optimism, he made everyone feel special. My condolences to his husband Scott Dutcher and her family.
