A new patent for a seemingly abandoned Pokémon sleep application has been discovered, sparking renewed excitement among trainers of this innovative monster-collecting app.
May 28th, 2019 was a big day for The Pokémon Company International. Four new games/applications have been announced, including Pokemon HOME, Pokemon Masters, and Detective Pikachu, which is coming to Nintendo Switch.
The fourth app hasn’t even been released yet, but it’s been haunting players’ dreams since it was announced. Pokemon Sleep, an app that boasts the ability to train Pokemon while they sleep, was set to release in 2020 but never did.
In fact, TPCi has not commented on Pokemon Sleep since its announcement, leading many to believe the project has been scrapped or abandoned. But the newly discovered patent may prove to the skeptics to the contrary.

Pokemon Sleep Patent Discovered
The patent was discovered by Reddit user milotic03, who had been visiting the pokemonsleep.com website since 2019 in hopes of seeing a sleeping Snorlax.
The URL has since been fixed, and pokemonsleep.com will take you to the official Pokémon website landing page. However, milotic03 has uploaded a patent detailing features that remind him of what TPCi promised him four years ago.

While the document did not name any Pokémon or Pokémon His Sleep, there were several drawings featuring Pikachu, the franchise’s mascot.

Fans are very excited because this is the first solid proof of the existence of continued development for Pokémon Sleep. On the other hand, some people are skeptical about the validity of patents.
The r/PokeLeaks thread is filled with users debating whether the patent is genuine. Some users claim that the pokemonsleep.com domain is owned by someone other than The Pokemon Company. Others have also claimed that the URL links kept changing, leading at some point to the YouTube channel and his Twitter post.
However, some still hold out hope that the patent is real and will be announced on February 27, 2023.

That said, if the patent is bogus, it seems that the creators went to great lengths to fabricate it. Either way, we won’t know the actual status of Pokémon Sleep until we hear from TCPi.
