    Barbara attended Bryn Mawr College and the University of Miami, earning a BA in 1962. She received her medical doctorate in 1968 from the University of Miami. She is Barbara certified in Neurology, Anatomic Pathology, Neuropathology and Forensic Pathology. During her long career, Barbara has been Assistant Professor of Neuropathology at the University of Pittsburgh, Associate Professor of Neuropathology at the University of California, Irvine, and Clinical Assistant Professor of Neurology at the University of Southern California. One of the few individuals who practiced her neurology and pathology and neuropathology, Barbara spent the last decade of her career working as an assistant coroner for forensic neuropathology in Orange County, California. I worked as an officer.
    Main research interests include developmental neuropathology, pediatric brain tumors, quantitative and qualitative assessment of atherosclerosis in cerebral vessels, forensic pathology of head trauma in child abuse and neurodegenerative dementia. increase. From 1992 until 2002, he was a collaborator in the University of Southern California Neuropathology Core Ischemic Vascular Dementia Program at the Amigos Medical Center in Rancho, CA.
    A common theme in Barbara’s life has been teaching wherever she finds it: medical student, neurology, neuropathology resident, guest speaker, teaching about succulents and palms. Barbara was passionate about succulents and palm trees, but had no interest in orchids unless they bloomed. For many years she was a succulent instructor at the Huntington Botanical Garden in San Marino, California. Barbara devoted herself to reading her books for the blind. She was a favorite reader of blind people interested in science and medicine! She was a lecturer at the Los Angeles Public Library, the Los Angeles Zoo, and a frequent visitor to the Los Angeles Humane Society.
    Barbara loved to cook and feed people, especially family and friends. With over 500 cookbooks to choose from, Barbara especially loved altering recipes to create the perfect flavor combination.
    Barbara passed away by her parents, Nathan & Edith Weinstein, and her brother, Gerald Weinstein, M.D. She is Floyd Gill, MD, husband of 34 years, Nardo Zayers (1960-1976), children Raquel Arslanian, MSW (Louis Arslanian, JD), Julie Zayers, MS, DVM, PhD, Leaving Elizabeth Jill, MD, and Susan Abu. -Jaber, MEd, CAES (Tariq Abu-Jaber, MA, MPH), David Gilles & Richard Gilles, Grandchildren Edie & Zachary Fuertes, Stella Cate Zaias, Chloe Abu-Jaber, MS & Jaspar Abu-Jaber, MD, James Gilles, ME & Maxwell Jill.
    Barbara will be buried on December 29, 2022 at Pacific View Memorial Park & ​​Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View Drive, Corona Del Mar, CA 92625.
