CLINTON, Md. (DC News Now) — After receiving several complaints from community members asking for more mental health resources in the county, Prince George County decided to address the issue with a new mental health center. I am considering.
“Unfortunately, Prince George County is known as a mental health desert, so the entry of this particular facility just provides another opportunity to provide access,” said the county community. Euniesha Davis, relationship director, said.
A new 24/7 Crisis Stabilization and Adult Substance Abuse Center will open in the southern part of the county this summer. It will be called the Dire Care Center and will be located in Clinton.
“The best thing about it is that there is no risk insurance required,” Davis said.
“Mental health is a top priority or concern for many residents, so having access to centers like this to get the support they need in their communities is extremely important,” she continued.
Davis says one of the goals of the center is to end stigma around mental health.
“This center will allow residents who are probably suffering and going through difficult times to have the opportunity to come, but they will be able to receive the support they need to live a better quality of life. ” she said. “We can talk about it so we can provide our county residents with the benefits of a center like this. I think it removes the shame and stigma from certain issues, and we can do that with the Center.”
They are working with the community and seeking input as plans for the center continue.
“In March we’ll have a second community conversation where we’ll really talk about what this layout looks like and what the building looks like. People need to know about that too. And people We will have another meeting to have an open house for people to come in,” she said.
For those under 18 or those in need of long-term care, the center has more resources to connect them to what they need, Davis said. An exact opening date has not been announced.
