Grand Junction, Colorado (KREX)—
Grand Junction’s “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” is no longer just a Christmas song. It’s also the new local chapter of a national program dedicated to providing comfortable sleeping places for children and teens who sleep on the floor.Just before Christmas, the chapter volunteers four of his teens. delivered and installed his two bunk beds for a family with a son.
Larry White, co-chair of the Grand Junction Chapter and teacher of technical education at Central High School, tells us about the students who inspire him. He said to a class of under 30 children, “How many people do you know who sleep without a bed? Five or six children raised their hands and really… it moved us.” So I said we’re doing the right thing by helping those kids. That’s our focus.”
Larry told KREX that the local “Sleep in Heavenly Peace” chapter’s goal is to provide 100 beds by the end of next year. Here is a link to their Facebook page (5) Sleep in Heavenly Peace – Grand Junction, Colorado | Facebook
