‘Flaws’ Sherry-Cola has expressed grief following the shooting in her hometown of Monterey Park.
“I was definitely devastated,” said Shelly Cora, an actress from Monterey Park. “I definitely cried myself to sleep.”
As of 3:26 p.m. Sunday, 10 people were killed and 10 injured at a dance studio on the 100 block of West Garvey Avenue in Monterey Park.
“This is Monterey Park, California, where I grew up,” Cora said. “I was just there on Thursday. This is my Buddhist temple. All the friends I grew up with were born in Monterey Park. This is my hometown. I am so proud to call it my home.” I have.”
A source confirmed to CBS News that the suspect has died.
Sources said the suspect appeared to have committed suicide by shooting himself in the van and was the target of a clash with Torrance police on Hawthorne and Sepulveda streets adjacent to Del Amo Mall.
Nearly a dozen officers cleared the vehicle, which was jammed between three armored law enforcement vehicles known as Bearcats.
Shortly after the initial search, officers went to another white van that was nearby and cleared it.
The standoff ended shortly after the search for both vehicles.
