The Baszucki Brain Research Fund and the Milken Institute’s Center for Strategic Philanthropy today announced the launch of the Metabolic Mind Award program to recognize champions working at the intersection of metabolism and mental health in the emerging field of metabolic psychiatry. The focus of this year’s awards will be on ketogenic metabolic therapy for mental health.
The foundation will award one-time awards of $100,000 to up to 10 individuals in recognition of their extraordinary efforts to advance ketogenic metabolic therapy for neuropsychiatric disorders. The award is primarily engaged in treating patients, developing training programs, conducting observational studies, writing, speaking, teaching, storytelling, advocating, and otherwise building awareness about carbohydrate-restricted ketogenic interventions in mental health. The Metabolic Mind Award program is designed to complement the Baszucki Family Foundation’s existing academic research grant program. While some winners are expected to be affiliated with research centers, the Metabolic Mind Awards are specifically designed to reward efforts that go beyond academic research. We are looking for award submissions from individuals around the world. Applications with collaborators and applications from groups will not be accepted. Eligible recipients include, but are not limited to, educators, clinicians, advocates, and authors.
