As the saying goes, “a mother knows best,” Sonya Curry definitely knows her son, Stephen Curry.

Before the Warriors’ matchup against the Orlando Magic at the Chase Center on Saturday, Sonya attended “Warriors Pregame Live” to join Kerith Burke, Chris Mullin and Monte Poole in the NBC Sports Bay Area against Boston Celtic in Game 6. We talked about how Steph felt right after beating Su. of the 2022 NBA Finals.

“I’m relieved,” Sonya said to the amused Burke, Malin, and Poole. “Last year was a year for him in many ways both on and off the court.”

Sonya explained that Steph’s emotions after the game had built up throughout the 2021-22 NBA season, and winning his fourth NBA championship allowed him to release those feelings.

“And so many people said they could, they said they couldn’t, and when they got clay, they went back and did it all over again. [Thompson] The back and the three-point record, everything,” Sonya said. “

Not only did Steph win his fourth championship in eight years, he also earned his first NBA Finals MVP while averaging 31.2 points, 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 2.0 steals against the Celtics.

This season, Steph appears to be picking up where he left off, averaging 30.0 points, 6.8 assists and 6.6 rebounds while shooting 50% field goals, 43.4% 3-point range and 43.4% free-throw line. Achieved 91.9%.

The 34-year-old has missed the Warriors’ last 14 games with a subluxation of his left shoulder, but could return sooner or later for a matchup against the San Antonio Spurs at the Alamodome on Jan. 13. be.
