Lionel Messi shared an inspiring Instagram post looking back on 2022.
It was arguably the best year of his career.Although he certainly had good things in terms of club success, he ended up winning the World Cup in Argentina.
Messi also cemented his status as the GOAT of football with seven goals in the tournament, including two in the final.
As well as the World Cup, the Argentinian forward also won Ligue 1 and the Super Cup with PSG, setting foot in France after a somewhat disappointing start to life there.
He took to social media to nostalgically reflect on the year and take time to thank his family, friends and fans for their support.
Messi wrote on Instagram: “I will never forget this year.
“The dream I’ve always pursued has finally come true. But it’s worth nothing if I can’t share it with my amazing family, the best family, and the friends who have always supported me. Every time I fall. let me stay on the floor.
“I also want to leave a special memory for everyone who follows me… It’s great to be able to share this path with you all.
“Without a lot of encouragement from all the people in my country, like Paris, Barcelona and many other cities and countries that I have loved, it would be impossible to get to where I came from. It would have been possible.
“I hope this year has been a great one for you all. I wish you all continued happiness in your health and strength in 2023. Big hugs to all of you!”
