Kayvon Thibodeaux either had no idea what was going on around him or chose to be completely disrespectful on Sunday afternoon. The Giants’ first-round pick celebrated a Nick Foles sack as the Colts quarterback was injured on the ground next to him.
A strange moment unfolded late in the second quarter of Sunday’s game.
Starting for Indianapolis, Foles took snaps in 3rd and 4th. He got back in his pocket, felt no pressure on the left edge, and hit big from the blindside.
Thibodeau made the tackle and was forced to punt. The 22-year-old celebrated by lying on his back and creating a fake snow angel.
Next to him, Foles lay on the ground, writhing in pain.
Kayvon Thibodeaux didn’t immediately know what was going on
But as the celebration continued, Foles was unable to get off the grass. He rolled back and forth next to Thibodeau, still holding his chest.
Thibodeau did not contain his joy when his teammates came to his aid. Even when Colts trainers rushed to check on Foles, Thibodeau continued.
It’s possible to give Thibodaux the benefit of the doubt over his Snow Angel and assume he’s completely in his own world. There’s no reason why I shouldn’t have understood the severity of that moment.
Where No It was what he did next that could have given Thibodeau any room for doubt. The Giants’ edge rusher returned to the sidelines as the Indianapolis staff checked on Falls, who remained down.
He continued his celebration and put Foolds to sleep.
Foles was later ruled out with a rib injury. He didn’t return to the game.
Thibodeau’s actions were certainly controversial, and his bystander “sleep” behavior made it hard to believe he didn’t realize Foles had been injured while doing an extended Snow Angel. .
