Many people use their phones until the moment they fall asleep, and then literally sleep with them in bed or charge nearby, using their phones all night. Using your phone before bed is bad, but is it bad to be around?

Researchers agree that using your phone before bed can reduce sleep quality. Does having a mobile phone nearby affect us unconsciously? And are there any health risks associated with sleeping near a mini-computer every night?

    How Cell Phones Aggravate Sleep

First, let’s talk about how having your phone nearby affects your sleep. As previously mentioned, using the phone is generally consented. Previous Beds are not good. Bright screens and endless stimulation disrupt our sleep cycles and keep our brains from “shutting off.”

These are the same concerns as having your phone nearby when you’re actually sleeping. Most people wake up several times during the night. When you’re having trouble falling asleep, you might want to pick up your phone.

A bright light flashes in my eyes and I can’t fall asleep again with a ‘quick’ scroll through Instagram. It’s the signal to your brain and body that sleep time is over, and it’s the exact opposite of what you want.

    Are there other health risks?

What about the health risks of sleeping next to your mobile phone? People have long been concerned about radiation-emitting electronic devices. Is there truth in those concerns?

Smartphones can communicate by transmitting radio waves through a network of antennas. These radio waves, also called high frequencies, are electromagnetic fields. Unlike radiation such as X-rays, electromagnetic fields do not break chemical bonds or cause ionization in the body.

In 2014, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified electromagnetic fields from smartphones as “possibly carcinogenic to humans”. However, the organization found that using smartphones for more than 10 years did not increase his risk of head and neck cancer. Other studies have found similar results, but the American Cancer Society notes that the studies are difficult.

A more recent study was published in 2018 by the National Toxicology Program (NTP).They found that male rats had an increased risk of rare heart tumors, but not female rats or males or females. mouseStudies with NTP have also reported a possible increased risk of developing certain types of tumors in the brain and adrenal glands.

However, this review of research determined that no conclusions could be drawn regarding the ability of radiofrequency energy to cause cancer. The NTP does not include radiofrequency radiation in its list of carcinogenic exposures.

Unfortunately, there’s no definitive answer to the effects of sleeping next to your smartphone. In your pocket or hand, you will have this moment. The health risks of sleeping near your mobile phone are likely to apply to your daily life as well.

What we do know is that your exposure to electromagnetic fields drops significantly as you move further away from your device. There is absolutely no reason to sleep with your phone next to you in bed.? You might also be wasting your time on your sleep tracker.
