A new study reveals that a lack of sleep at night may increase the risk of high blood pressure.

Snoring is a problem for many people. His recent YouGov poll reported that 52% of her in the UK population snore. As his sleep expert James Wilson explains, there are many causes.
James, aka The Sleep Geek, said: by congestion, viruses or allergies.
“Alcohol or spicy foods may irritate the airways, or sleeping on your back may be the culprit.
“It can be caused by oversized adenoids or tonsils, the shape of the tongue, or an injury to the nose.
“If it sounds more like choking than snoring, it could be a sign of a serious sleep disorder called sleep apnea.”
Whatever the cause, it has a significant impact on quality of life.
“For people who snore, sleep quality can be affected,” adds James. “Sleeping next to someone who snores can have a huge impact on your relationship.
“It makes their sleep worse, they start to resent their partners, the lack of sleep caused by snoring makes work more difficult, our children more difficult to deal with, and in some cases relationships. It leads to collapse.
Snoring may be a sign of sleep apnea, a disorder that stops the patient from breathing. They often make choking sounds.
It can lead to heart disease, stroke and, in rare cases, death, and it is believed to have 1.6 million undiagnosed cases in the UK.
Other symptoms include feeling incredibly sleepy or waking up even when your eyes are well closed. If you think you or your partner has this, see your doctor as there are treatments available.
There are many gadgets and gizmos that claim to be useful, but do they really work?
“Yes, stop. If you can figure out what’s causing your snoring, you can address the underlying problem,” explains James.
“Most of the gadgets available, such as rings that press on acupressure points, or devices that encourage you to reposition when you snore, are not very effective. Lifestyle changes can be made, and I also love the Kally Sleep body pillow that encourages me to sleep on my side.”
Here James shares tips to help you stop snoring.
Think ahead: Replace down or man-made pillows with foam pillows. If allergies are causing your snoring, removing substances that promote the allergen from your sleep environment can help.

Oily to bed: Drinking a spoonful of olive oil before going to bed at night can help reduce snoring after eating alcohol or spicy foods.
This is an anti-inflammatory agent that helps relieve irritation of the airways.
The effects won’t last all night, but it will help your partner get a deeper sleep and be less likely to be woken up by snoring.

Dakimakura pillows are great for encouraging you to sleep on your side. However, someone sewed a tennis ball onto her T-shirt and got the same result.
My sleep is so loud I wake myself up often

Sarah Barney, 46, of Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire, a lawyer who recently developed an app called Howl to combat dog theft, snores. she says:
“I’ve been snoring since I was little. When I was 11, my bedroom was next to my parents’ room, but I always tried not to wake them up, so I moved to the other side of the hallway. Did.
“It’s very loud and it’s been going on all my life.
“A few years ago, I was in a two-bedroom lodge with friends for the weekend.
“It was me and two other couples, but it was our first time staying together.
“I slept on the foldout sofa bed in the living room and kept everyone awake all night.

“I keep myself awake forever. Sometimes it really disturbs me and I have a rotten night’s sleep.
“At other times, I’m fortunately not conscious of it. I’m currently single, so I don’t have a partner to worry about, but when it comes to starting a new relationship, I do.
“I once had a partner who woke me up and turned me over.

“I’m a little overweight and don’t drink much.
“I haven’t really tried anything to stop it, but it’s very embarrassing and I hope to find a solution one day!”
