He doesn’t close his eyes the old fashioned way.
TikTok user Payton Vidmar wowed viewers with a bizarre clip showing her husband Colton falling asleep with his eyes wide open.
Catching more than 26 million winks, her viral video gave fans a glimpse into her men’s nap habits. “This is proof that her husband actually sleeps with her eyes open. It freaks me out every time I see it,” Vidmer said in the clip.
She then filmed her husband dozing off while his student, seemingly agape, stares into space.
Vidmer started yelling his name to wake him up and he blinked back to life. His wife burst out laughing as a dazed Colton looked around the room to clear up the confusion.

Viewers were amazed at how he slept and shared their horror and amusingness in the comments.
“When I wake up, I wake up!” joked one. Another agreed, adding, “The dryness must be Sahara when he wakes up.”
Another user wrote of how Vidmar’s husband took a nap: “I was scared to death!”
“NOOOOOOO I would have popped out of my skin,” declared another. “I couldn’t sleep in the same house as him.”
One person claimed that he could not sleep next to someone who had this problem.
However, the disturbing phenomenon may not be as unique as TikTok users believe. Known as nocturnal rabbit eye, this condition is actually quite common. About 1 in 20 people don’t close their eyes in sleep, according to the Sleep Foundation.
The study also revealed causes for eyelids to open while getting Zzzz, including bulging eyeballs, short or weak eyelids, facial nerve problems, and eyelid blemishes.
