Model Hailey Bieber has opened up about how her mental and physical health has been affected since suffering a mild stroke in 2022.
On the “Run-Through with Vogue” podcast, Hailey revealed she suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) after a stroke, reported Page Six.
“After that, I struggled with a lot of anxiety. I suffered a little bit of PTSD of fear that maybe it would happen again,” she said.
She added:
In March 2022, the 26-year-old model was hospitalized with stroke-like symptoms caused by a blood clot in her brain. Upon her admission, she was diagnosed with patent foramen ovale or her PFO. This is a small opening in her heart that didn’t need to be closed after birth.
The Rhode Beauty founder added that mini-strokes were “without a doubt the scariest thing I’ve ever experienced.” It’s been “very exciting” for her to be back in the area for the podcast.
“After that, even the first few times I came back here, it was a bit of a weird triggering feeling for me because I remember exactly how everything happened in that moment. I think the bright side for me is that it led me to know that there was this hole in my heart,” she explained.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced traumatic, frightening, or dangerous events. Symptoms include flashbacks, nightmares, and severe anxiety.
