Hackensack Meridian Jersey Shore University Medical Center recently announced a new treatment facility expanding neurological care in Monmouth and Ocean counties.
The $2.2 million, approximately 10,000 square foot Dr. Robert H. Harris Neuroscience Treatment Center houses experts in neurological diseases and conditions and is part of Hackensack Meridian Health’s Neuroscience Laboratory.
With this new center in the Amdur Pavilion, neuroscience outpatient services have been integrated into the Neptune Campus, along with the Neurosurgery Office in the nearby HOPE Tower.

The center, which officials celebrated with its grand opening on January 14, was made possible by a “generous gift” from the Golden Dome Foundation, a Middletown-based nonprofit.
The medical center did not disclose the amount of the gift.
Founded in 2015 by the late Dr. Robert Harris and his wife and current president, Mary Ellen Harris, the Foundation has supported several Hackensack Meridian hospitals, including Bayshore Medical Center, Ocean University Medical Center, and Jersey Shore University Medical Center. “My husband has dedicated his life to advancing research to improve the quality of life for those facing illness and disability,” Harris said in a statement. Extending his legacy through the naming of the Center is a continuation of his life’s work: Communities need the best care possible and we are committed to ensuring that care is delivered to those in need. I am honored to be able to play a role and I hope this new center will help many people.”
The treatment center offers advanced diagnostic tests and treatments for ALS, Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, neuro-oncology, epilepsy and seizure disorders, headaches and migraines, stroke prevention, and more.

“With this in mind, over the past two years, we have expanded our comprehensive and nationally recognized neurological care services by recruiting 19 leading neuroscience professionals from state and nationally.” Colicchio said.
