Delaware County has new locations for people struggling with mental health and addiction to get treatment.
Grand Mental Health opens new facility in Jay.
In 1965, Patti Wiese’s mother was in the state ward at Eastern State Hospital.
“When Grand (Mental Health) came in and opened their first clinic in Vinita, my mother became one of their first patients,” says Wiese.
When Wiese’s mom was treated at Grand Mental Health, they got the help they desperately needed and their lives changed for the better.
“What it allowed was that my mother could have raised me at home, otherwise she would have remained a state ward,” Weisz said.
Since then, Grand Mental Health has opened more than 20 facilities statewide, including Jay’s new facility.
“Most people really appreciate being able to come to a facility where they feel comfortable, safe, and where they feel they are being treated,” said Larry Smith, CEO of Grand Mental Health.
The new behavioral clinic provides emergency services accessible anytime to all Delaware County residents to help them cope with life and work.
“Police officers are very appreciative of being able to take people with mental health issues and get help,” Smith said.
Our goal is to continue to expand and continue to help the people of Oklahoma.
“I take great pride in being able to help people like this and keep them out of prisons, hospitals and institutions,” Smith said.
The facility will be open from January 5th.
