Dummer Hamlin’s neurological function is said to be “excellent” as the Buffalo Bills’ safety continues to improve after Monday’s on-field cardiac arrest.
The 24-year-old has shown encouraging signs in recent days, and doctors at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center provided an update Saturday afternoon.

“He continues to breathe on his own and has excellent neurological function.”
Bills was given a big surprise Friday when Hamlin said “I love you” via FaceTime and flexed his arm muscles after removing his breathing tube.

During the play, the 6-foot, 200-pound Hamlin was injured and Higgins took the lead with his right shoulder, slamming the defensive back into his chest. Hamlin wrapped his arms around Higgins’ shoulders and helmet and dragged him down.

He also expressed hope that Hamlin might be able to see his teammates in hospital when they face the New England Patriots on Sunday.
