MATRIC results will be announced on January 19th. Her 12th grade learners of 2022 are hoping for results as that day is just around the corner. Anxiety involves worrying about whether they have achieved it and, for some, whether they are eligible for admission to higher education. It’s very important to take care of yourself instead of making it worse. Success at School shares tips for staying calm while waiting for final math exam results.

    1. Don’t suppress your emotions

If you feel nervous or anxious, speak up. Tell a family member or friend, or write it down in your journal. Don’t be ashamed of how you feel. You might not think anyone feels this way, but it could be. Exams are stressful. It is very important not to keep everything to yourself, as accumulating stress can make things worse.

    2. Make a plan

Stay organized – know what time you need to go, get your results, know where you need to go. To avoid panicking on the day, think about what you would need to do if you didn’t get the results you were hoping for.

For example, if your college location or job postings depend on you getting certain results, have a phone number handy and call that day to see if they still offer you the position. We will make it possible for you to confirm whether you are willing to provide it.

    3. Get enough rest

The night before results day, sleep may be the last thing on your mind, but 40 winks will set you in a good frame of mind to face what lies ahead.

There are things you can do to help those elusive zzzs come your way. Make sure you are well tired.

Avoid too much caffeine, especially six hours before bed, and take a nice relaxing bath at night. Resist the urge to retake the exam over and over in your head as it will do you no good.

If all you’re talking about is exams, you might want to stay away from social media. Because it will only make you feel worse. Instead, read your favorite book to calm your mind.

    4. Don’t go alone

You may not want to take your mom to school, but you’ll really appreciate having your family with you when school makes you nervous.

First, if you need to drive, they can drive you and your nerve bundles to get you back home.

Second, if things don’t go as planned, having two heads is better than one at gathering as much information as possible about your next steps, evaluating your options, and coming up with a plan of action. I’m here.

Finally, even if none of the above helps, they might buy you a nice lunch later.

    5. If you did not get the test results you wanted

Do not panic. Again, don’t panic. If you didn’t get the test grade you wanted, you have many options.

Take a deep breath and start talking. Talk to your teachers, career advisors, and whoever you can to find out what to do next.

Research as much as you can before making a decision. Remember this is not the end of the world. There are many people who didn’t get the grades they wanted, but who were very successful. There are many paths to success, so use disappointment as motivation to find your way.

Again, you may want to stay away from social media for the day. There can be a lot of excited chatter about results that don’t make you feel better.

When desired test results are obtained

yay! Thank you very much. Be sure to celebrate your great achievements.

But be aware that those around you may not have heard such good news. So keep gleeful, screeching, and general madness in check until no one is near who is upset by the consequences.
