Centrepoint, the country’s leading homeless youth charity, is asking people to put up beds for homeless youth.

This February 2023, a charity is calling on people across the UK to replace their beds with sleeping bags to raise funds for vulnerable youth.

Along with inviting the public to ‘Hold Your Own Sleep Out’, the charity will host a special Sleep Out event on Friday 24th February at The Oval Cricket Ground in Kennington, South London. Attendees should expect to hear from her members of frontline staff about her Centrepoint’s work and celebrate her great efforts with fellow fundraisers before braving the cold night.

Centerpoint is now asking members of the public to help raise funds to help charities continue their important work as vulnerable young people try to weather the cost of living crisis.

For those who can’t make it to London, the charity is calling on you to host your own Sleep Out from 20th to 26th February.

Adele Atiyah, Public Participation and Events Manager at Centrepoint, said:

“I can’t wait to host the first Sleep Out that’s open to the public since before the pandemic started. It’s still a good time, but it’s very dangerous for young, vulnerable people who are cold and hungry. It’s time.

“So, whether you’re attending a special night at The Oval or hosting your own Sleep Out, you need to involve as many people as possible. Even so, we want people to come together and show that homeless youth are not forgotten by us.

Statistics from the London Combined Homelessness and Information Network (CHAIN) reveal that 297 people in London had trouble sleeping between October and December 2022, a 29% increase compared to the same period last year. Increased has. The charity expects those numbers to increase due to the cost of living crisis.

Funds raised from Centrepoint’s Sleep Out events provide homeless youth with safe and stable accommodation, professional support for physical and mental health, as well as training, education and and access to employment.
