For over a decade, Filipino pageant fans have been so proud of our place in the international beauty pageant that we were recently left out as one of the top 16 semi-finalists at Miss Universe. was a big shock. It was especially painful as it ended an impressive 12-year Miss Universe semi-final winning streak for our country that dates back to 2010 when Venus Raj represented us. But many of us never thought such a fate would befall our nominee, the stunningly beautiful Celeste Cortesi. It was generally commendable. However, we don’t know how she handled the all-important closed-door interview after that.
In any case, I was also disappointed that Celeste wasn’t selected as a semi-finalist, but now I’m more concerned about her overall health. Given that, I hope you have the emotional and mental fortitude to endure cruel and offensive online comments directed at her, as well as a sense of humor and common sense to avoid social media. for the time being. May she have a strong support system too if she is hurting deeply.
I write this to thank our gals for representing us beautifully in the Miss Universe pageant. You can use this experience to do other things of great value as you continue to grow and blaze a trail in this world.
Dear Filipino pageant fans and followers, please don’t do anything toxic. Instead, be kind and considerate to our candidates and think soberly about the consequences. Because the winning streak (or losing streak) always ends. So get over it and move on and shift our passion and energy from the Miss Universe pageant to the more important things in life.
