Under normal circumstances, there’s little reason to get excited about heading to Orchard Park in mid-January to face the Buffalo Bills in the postseason.
But these waters are “unknown,” as Miami Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel puts it, and he sees little of it as a negative heading into Sunday’s wildcard meeting in Buffalo. Emotions at Highmark Stadium seem to favor the home side as veteran Dummer Hamlin continues to recover, but McDaniel said the situation, if anything, left an emotional playing field fair. I have to.
McDaniel said on Monday, “It’s still an unknown, but I’m sure the whole team will be rooting for Dummer, just like the Miami Dolphins. It’s a shared experience.”
Hamlin, who returned to Buffalo while recovering from cardiac arrest, has united the league and its players since an on-field health ailment on Jan. 2. The second-year safety is 18 across the league. The Bills will no doubt continue to honor him as long as he makes it to the playoffs.
There’s nothing official about the prestigious pregame routine, but the Bills could have something in store to celebrate Hamlin when the Dolphins come to the town of Sandat with an upset heart as the bottom seed in the AFC playoffs. I have.
But despite the cold, unfavorable odds, rowdy fans and the possibility that Miami will have to start third-string rookie quarterback Skyler Thompson, from McDaniel’s point of view, its Being part is still a blessing.
“As much as anyone can feel like they’re rooting for the Miami Dolphins, they’re going to be very lucky to be a part of that celebration,” he said.
The Bills and Dolphins kick off at 1:00 PM ET on Sunday.
