MEMPHIS, Tennessee — A 97-year-old woman suffered deep cuts to her leg after being kicked repeatedly by her granddaughter while in bed, police say.
Stacey Denton, 40, has been charged with abuse of a vulnerable adult and domestic violence following an incident at her Grove Park Road home a week ago.
According to police, Denton came home drunk and entered her grandmother’s room, accusing her of causing trouble.
My grandmother was able to run to a neighbor who called the police and paramedics. Investigators said the victim had a five-inch laceration on his left lower leg, exposing fatty tissue.
“I’ve been through World War II, the Great Depression, and everything in between, and this is the worst I’ve ever been through,” said my grandmother.
Baptist East doctors were unable to stitch the wound because the victim’s skin was too fragile, police said.
Denton is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
