Kate, who got Walter as an 8-week-old puppy, extended her stay in St. Louis for two weeks to retrace the pets actions. She said it was tough to return house knowing that her canine was missing out on. She sought the help of the neighborhood by printing and displaying flyers in the community.
FacebookThis rescue organization from Illinois reunited a missing pet dog with its owner after almost a year of separation.
In 2015s Thanksgiving celebration became a nightmare for Kate Olson of New Hampshire, England, when she lost her friend. She was visiting her boyfriends parents in Arnold, Missouri, when her Golden Retriever Walter– whom she referred to as an anxious dog– slipped out of his collar and took off while out on a walk.
After a couple of months, Kate began receiving calls saying theyve seen Walter, giving her hope that she would quickly find her beloved animal. She then flew back to St. Louis in January to continue her search.
Kate spent an estimated $1,000 for the cost of the fliers and the trips she took back and forth from New Hampshire to St. Louis.
FacebookHowever, the dog was still nowhere to be seen. Kate understood she needed to do more, so she developed the “Wheres Walter?” Facebook page and enlisted the assistance of animal rescue groups in locating the lost pet dog.
” I just want to know if hes fine. I desire him to know that Im not quiting on him. Ill never ever give up on him,” she stated at the time.
After 10 months without any signs of Walter, Kate started losing hope. Thats up until she got a message on November 13 from a member of the Facebook group she developed. That individual saw a post about a pet sighting and sent it to her.
The good news is, the pet dog was Walter!
Considering that Walter has returned, Kate observed a change in his behavior– an excellent one, thankfully.
Walter is also set up for a vet appointment to ensure that hes in great health.
” Not everyone does have this ending,” Kate acknowledged. “I never ever in a million years thought that I would be one of them.”.
Kate is grateful to all the individuals included, especially to the Lost Paws Trapping volunteers, who she calls her “heroes.”.
Facebook” 13 days shy of being on the run for an entire year; living in the woods, preventing everyone he met and finally on of throughout the days Friday the 13th, Walter has been trapped,” the group composed in a Facebook post.
Lastly, Kate had the ability to hold Walter in her arms Friday night.
FacebookApparently, Walter had actually been surviving on his own in the woods for the past year. Luckily, he seemed physically unharmed and must be great.
Kate leapt on the next flight to St. Louis, and, coincidentally, Walter was captured by a rescue company in Belleville, Illinois, called Lost Paws Trapping 3 hours after she landed.
Lost Paws Trapping is a rescue company run by volunteers who rely solely on contributions. You can see the touching clip of Kate and Walters reunion in the comments section of this Facebook post.
” I had to keep my composure even if … I was in shock,” Kate described the minute she saw Walter once again.
” He has been such a little love. He is the same sweet boy he was previously and perhaps even sweeter due to the fact that he has missed out on getting liked on!” she told 5 On Your Side.
Considering that he was rescued, Walter has taken pleasure in two baths and a special treatment from K-9 Grooming in Oakville. The group was nice sufficient to give both treatments to him complimentary of charge.
