Heroic teen wrestling champ helps stop would-be kidnapping at store

Troy Bower” Me: Hey there?

Partner: Has Canaan called you?

Me: No, is he okay?

I began calling my 16-year-old kid who was on spring break from school. Scared for my kids safety, not understanding where he was at or what condition he might be in, I was paranoid and anxiously trying to find him.

I called the gas station as I drove through town looking for his truck. No indication of his truck. No response on his phone. Is he at a hospital? Maybe hes at the police headquarters. Wherever he is, he needs an adult with him who is on his side and has his benefit in mind.

Me: Say what … Ill go discover him.

Partner: Apparently, hes a hero and a dumba **. He called me to say he wrestled a man who was trying to harm some kids at a gas station in Dona Ana. We hung up and now I cant get a hold of him.

The clerk answered the phone in an unstable voice, clearly upset and out of breath: Hello?

Me: Yes maam, I comprehend there was a scenario there a little while back?

Clerk: Uh-huh.

Me: I was informed my child was there and may have gotten involved with a man, possibly even combating the man?

Clerk: Is your son strong and high with black hair?

Me: Yes!

Clerk: Oh my God sir, your kid … he was … your boy … was … was … incredible. We knew the cops were a long methods away and we knew this man was going to take the kids due to the fact that we could not stop him. As soon as I recognized the kids were in threat and the evil was going to win, the door opened up and your son strolled in.

Me: Do you understand where my boy is?

Clerk: Im sorry, I dont. He left after talking with the cops.

Troy BowerNot understanding if the man had a knife, a weapon, or what level of danger he was dealing with. All he understood is that something required to be done and he trusted himself, especially once he closed the distance and was chest to chest with this wicked man.

We understood the police were a long methods away and we understood this man was going to take the kids because we couldnt stop him. Troy BowerEventually, Canaan called me and was surprised I heard about the occurrence and was even more stunned I was talking about it. Troy BowerTruth is, none of us understand till we find ourselves in that circumstance. Death or a terrible life waited for those innocent kids had Canaan not stepped up and did what he had to do.

We later on found out Canaan avoided a kidnapping of 3 children that were headed for sex trafficking. Death or a horrible life awaited those innocent kids had Canaan not stepped up and did what he needed to do. Canaan was prepared, having completed in the State Wrestling Tournament 2 weeks earlier and winning the District Championship a week before that. When he heard the turmoil, Canaan was throughout the street at a different gas station. He understood something wasnt right and he sprang into action.

He had the ability to acknowledge a danger was present and knew how to thwart it. Without any regard for his own safety as he approached the scene, saw a guy covered in blood, entered the shop, and ran across the blood-soaked flooring to reach a man who was kicking down a door where the kids were concealing.

In the end, great won. In some cases it includes a rate, but good constantly wins. Canaan did what required to be done, with no intent of profiting or gaining attention. The video is clear, he ran into a harmful circumstance and never when thought about himself. Canaan is knowledgeable and strong. Canaan is a terrific individual with a heart for people and doing the ideal thing. Love conquers all.”

Troy BowerTruth is, none people know until we discover ourselves because circumstance. Armchair QB is easy. Armchair detective or hero is simple. Weve all got busy lives, locations to be. Hectic that many of us would not, did not hear the commotion or see right in front of us. Others would rather be the hero that called 911 or recorded it on our phone for social networks to see. We dont understand what we would do, none of us. You, kid, have it on your resume. You did it.

In the weeks and months following the attempted kidnapping, weve heard lots of people discuss what they wouldve done. Slammed his face in, shot him, put him in a headlock, squeezed the life out of him. And my message to all of them is the very same message I informed Canaan after our embrace: I like to think I wouldve done the same thing.

Troy BowerEventually, Canaan called me and was surprised I heard about the incident and was even more stunned I was talking about it. Later on that afternoon, I saw Canaan walking throughout the yard to the front door.

I wrapped my arms around him and held him tightly. After our welcome, he looked me in the eye … beaming with pleasure. Not for what he had actually done, however because his heart was complete. I was happy of him. I squeezed him. I didnt even let the front door shut prior to he found himself engulfed in my arms. Dad, you wouldve done the very same thing.
