Bride gets married outside nursing home window so mom could witness her special day

While Robyn certainly didnt imagine having her wedding in an assisted living home, she made it take place so that the most essential female in her life could be there. Dorothy is indeed very lucky to have a child like her!

Robyn visits her every week, however ever since the coronavirus pandemic hit, they had to make modifications to her visitations. Robyn shared the concept with Jessica Garcia-Robinson, the director of restorative leisure at the nursing home. Robyn and Tim scrambled to discover the ideal dress, matches, and flowers for the occasion. Thankfully for them, they got everything just in time!

“That day was my 52nd birthday and this is my very first marital relationship. So for my mama to be there, my prayer has actually constantly been that. Even when she went to the nursing house, it was constantly that my mama would be at my wedding event no matter what,” Robyn said.

Nevertheless, getting married in the center involved getting approval from a couple of governing bodies.

Their visitor list was small, but the neighborhood at Washington Heights caught wind of their nursing house wedding event. They were welcomed by cheers and well-wishes from individuals in the neighboring homes, cars, and streets when they emerged from the building.

She and her then-fiance, Tim Williams, were supposed to get wed in the spring of 2021, however the pandemic forced them to cancel their plans. However, when Robyn was visiting her mom one day at the facility, she got an idea: what if they get wed at the nursing houses garden?

The smile on Dorothys face that day made all the effort worth it.

On October 10, surrounded by a few of their family members with Dorothy seeing from the window, Robyn and Tim tied the knot in a simple garden event.

FacebookShe believed it would be the perfect arrangement as it would enable her mom to witness her wedding, albeit separated by a glass window.

Facebook”So to see her face there in the windows, and to have her be mentally present, have her be physically present, and so excited. It was simply fantastic,” she included.

” Her family resembles our family,” Jessica stated. “It was honestly an advantage to have done this for them.”

FacebookWhenever Robyn Roberts-Williams pictures what her wedding day would look like, there was something that constantly stood out: an image of her mommy sitting in the front row.

FacebookIn July, Robyn and Tim asked if they could do the ceremony at the garden on October 10, and at the start of September, they finally got the approval.

Even when she went to the nursing home, it was always that my mom would be at my wedding event no matter what,” Robyn stated.

This meant the couple had more than a month to prepare for the wedding event. Robyn and Tim rushed to find the right dress, suits, and flowers for the occasion. Luckily for them, they got everything in the nick of time!

“There were just 10 of us in the garden, however the event around us was simply incredible. All of that happened organically, we didnt prepare for any of that to occur,” Robyn recalled.

The centers administrators had to evaluate the Department of Healths policies about visitations and ensure it gets the fine from MJHS Health– its parent company– before proceeding.

Robyn shared the concept with Jessica Garcia-Robinson, the director of restorative recreation at the nursing house. Given that theyve known each other for over a years, Jessica treated them like family. She was very thrilled to make the ceremony take place for Dorothy.

Her 89-year-old mother, Dorothy Roberts, has actually been a citizen at the Isabella Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Washington Heights, New York, for 13 years. Robyn visits her weekly, however since the coronavirus pandemic hit, they had to make adjustments to her visitations. She now has to sit outside in the facilitys garden and chat with her mama through a glass window on the ground floor.

” Once we saw the area where we get to have the window check out, we stated this would just be an ideal spot to have a little event,” she told Patch. “A couple of people, effective, a couple of member of the family, which will be completion of that.”
